Memorial Day Sale
Did you know many of our albums have ties to Memorial Day? Several feature veterans or war dead honor songs or were recorded at pow wows held over Memorial Day weekend.
Collections will all ship out June 3.
Our collection orders are available for pre-order only so we know how many shipping boxes to order.
I’ve received questions recently about the manufacturing of the records so here’s a little bit of that info. My Grandpa traveled extensively in the 1960’s and 70’s and would spend days or weeks on the reservations making friends and recording singers at their homes or at the pow wow’s. After he got home and finished editing the albums, he sent the reel-to-reel to RCA in Los Angeles, California. RCA manufactured all the records and sleeves that Indian Records released during the 1960’s and 70’s.
The recording date for each album is located on the back of the sleeve and typically the records were released about 4-6 months from that date, once he received the finished albums back from RCA.
If you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
Original collection of 22 LP Records produced and distributed by Indian Records, Inc. during the 1960’s and 70’s.
These are the original 60’s & 70’s pressings, new still in the plastic wrap. At this point they have a historical or archival aspect because some of the languages sung are on the verge of extinction. Information about the production is below.
